AVALANCHE OF BETS AS POSTMAN PROMISES TO DELIVER SNOW
A local postman from Donegal has single-handedly sent optimistic punters into a betting frenzy by forecasting that Ireland will see a White Christmas this year!
The 61 year-old mailman from Glenfin valley, who is well known for his accurate weather forecasts has prompted such a gamble that bookies Paddy Power were today forced to slash the odds on a white Christmas in Dublin and Belfast to just 5/2. It’s also short odds of just 9/4 that snow falls across the pond in London.
Ireland’s last “official” white Christmas was in 2004. This year, a single snowflake registered in Dublin airport on the 25th December could cost the bookie over €100,000.
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “They say snow comes every five years so between the old cliché and Donegal man Michael Gallagher’s predictions everything points to a white Christmas. We just hope the postman delivers!”
