Five Things Models Should Remember… But Many Don’t
We all love reading about celebrities’ diva moments, and no doubt many of us believe that we would never behave in such a way. But, how can we really know what we’d be like if our lives headed in the glamorous direction of fame? Along with actors and musicians, models can be prone to making ridiculous demands. Here are some top tips to keeping your feet firmly on the ground should you find yourself at next year’s fashion weeks or modelling for the cover of Vogue.
• Control your ego. Ego is one of the main reasons people want to model. After all, who doesn’t want to hear they look amazing? Yes, you must be beautiful to have got yourself a successful career, but get stuck on this and it will make a direct impact on your personality.
• Remember who you were. Working as a high profile model will change you, that’s fair enough. Just don’t lose track of where you came from and stay in touch with old friends – remember, they’re the ones who liked you before you got famous.
• Modelling is a career, not just an opportunity to wear designer clothes and attend glitzy parties. The modelling industry is big business, you’re helping to promote products not just looking pretty, so remain focused and professional. Be prepared to replace the parties with an early night, you’ve got work to do!
•Remain independent. Don’t you just hate it when celebs have people to do everything for them? Continue to do things for yourself both in terms of errands and the choices that you make.
• Expand your talents. Modelling can be a fleeting career so it always helps to have other skills. It could be designing, photography or something completely different, as long as you have a direction to follow if your modelling career should slow down.
