Howard S. Wright Selects Viewpoint Construction Software as Its Next Solution Provider
PORTLAND, Ore.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– After a thorough 11-month evaluation process, premier West Coast contractor Howard S. Wright has selected Viewpoint V6 software as its next generation information platform. “Everything is designed to work together, and that’s a big plus for us,” states HSW CFO Jim Constance. Viewpoint Software rose to the top during the selection process because of the ease of configuring the software to the way Howard S. Wright operates. They were thrilled to discover they didn’t need to change their business to fit the new software platform.
Wright knew they needed to replace their aging “green screen” technology, which had an end-of-support date of 2013. After 23 years on a system heavily customized to meet their needs, the steering committee involved all levels of the company in the selection process. It didn’t take long for Wright staff to get excited about Viewpoint once they saw how easy it was to navigate and use. “The ease of getting company-wide buy-in on Viewpoint went far beyond my expectations,” states Jim. “And once people saw their ability to access data immediately for reporting and analysis, they were like kids in a candy store.”
Viewpoint improves efficiency with month-end processing tasks. With Viewpoint, flexible inquiries provide the ability to instantly “drill down” on all aspects of project cost, even to an image of the source transaction. This inquiry feature alone will free up accounting staff time. In addition, their IT group will no longer have to manage multiple systems, which will streamline systems management.
Recognizing that Project Managers often have their own ways of doing things, the selection committee involved three senior PMs in the review process – those with the company the longest and the most detail-oriented. While skeptical at first, they soon provided total backing for the move to Viewpoint. Wright plans to adopt Viewpoint as a standard project controls solution throughout the company.
