IPWatchdog.com Blog Named to the ABA Journal Blawg 100
Intellectual Property Blog Is Selected as One of the Best Legal Blogs of the Year
LEESBURG, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– On Monday, November 30, 2009, the ABA Journal released its Third Annual ABA Journal Blawg 100, selecting the IPWatchdog.com blog as one of the top 100 best websites by lawyers, for lawyers. The site is a well-known resource for news and commentary on patent law and related topics, including software, technology, innovation and intellectual property.
“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized as having one of the top 100 websites for lawyers by the American Bar Association,” said Gene Quinn, a US patent attorney, President of IPWatchdog, Inc., and the primary author of the IPWatchdog.com blog. “The Internet in general, and blogs specifically, are playing an ever-increasing role in the dissemination of high quality news, information, and analysis, and I am excited to be playing a role in this evolving digital landscape.”
For several years, Quinn has been a critic of the Patent Office and the Federal Circuit. During 2009, Quinn and IPWatchdog.com have focused on patent and innovation policy and reform within the USPTO, Congress and Executive Branch. Quinn has also written extensively about software patents, business method patents and gene patents, and has written widely read popular news pieces relating to President Obama’s interest in open source software for the US government, Bill Gates patent application relating to decreasing hurricane intensity, the cloning of a family dog and several articles on Michael Jackson the inventor and entertainer. Quinn was also granted press credentials from the United States Supreme Court to cover the Bilski oral arguments just last month.
“Gene has been an important part of the Practising Law Institute patent family for some time, having taught in the PLI Patent Bar Review course since 2001,” said Victor Rubino, President of PLI. “PLI is proud to be the main sponsor for IPWatchdog and to feature Gene’s blog on our Patent Practice Center page. We look forward to even more news making posts and thought-provoking opinions in the future.”
In describing the IPWatchdog.com blog, the ABA Journal said: “Did you sit down last Dec. 31 and draw up a list of patent wishes for 2009? Gene Quinn did. This Leesburg, VA-based watchdog keeps tabs on the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, devours and analyzes draft reports on gene patents, and speculates on what the Obama administration will mean to patent law.”
