Marie Lloyd photography has interviewed her brides for their top 10 tips on getting a luxury wedding for less.

Tip 1 – A wedding held on a Monday to Thursday can reduce the cost of the reception by up to half. Most other wedding services provide discounts for non-Saturday weddings to.

Tip 2 – Buy a plain cake from your local supermarket such as Tesco, or M&S. You can decorate it yourself. Jayne from Wrexham payed just £40 for her wedding cake, and bought cake decorations from an online auction site. Jayne payed in total just £60 and said all her cake was ate!!

Tip 3 – Buy second hand, especially items such as tiaras which have been worn for only a few hours giving you designer at a fraction on the price

Tip 4 – Make your own invitations, order of service and menus. You can get so many fabulous design templates online these days for free and then just print and post!!

Tip 5 – Get your make up done in a large department store. By the make up you think suits you and practice applying it for your day. Not only will you have a fabulous look but you will have the make-up to keep.

Tip 6- Don’t be afraid to haggle. They can only say no!!

Tip 7 – Use the wedding fairs for ideas, but be wary the companies at fairs tend not to be the cheapest.

Tip 8 – Write a priority list, what’s more important to you, a professional photographer, table decorations or hand- crafted invitations? Weigh up your list; it will help you spend your many where wanted the most.

Tip 9 – When choosing your rings, try and avoid larger retailers and use smaller shops they tend to offer discounts if you ask and you usually get more for less.

Tip 10– Always mention the word honeymoon, you can get flight upgrades and hotel upgrades, and even free drinks in restaurants!
