New England Clean Energy Council Celebrates a Year of Accomplishments and Milestones at Second Annual ‘Green Tie Gala’
Region’s Clean Energy Leaders Honored for Outstanding Achievements in Accelerating the Clean Energy Economy
BOSTON–(BUSINESS WIRE)– New England’s clean energy community gathered last night at the JFK Library and Museum to celebrate a year of accomplishments and to honor companies and individuals as part of the New England Clean Energy Council’s second annual ‘Green Tie Gala’ and awards ceremony. The sold-out event recognized outstanding efforts and milestones that helped to accelerate New England’s clean energy economy in 2009.
“The clean energy sector was a bright spot for the regional economy in 2009, and there’s plenty of room to build on that momentum,” said Nick d’Arbeloff, President of the Council. “The Green Tie Gala helps us recognize the individuals and organizations leading the way, while also allowing the community a chance to celebrate the growth of the sector.”
The Council’s Gala event brought together its diverse set of stakeholders including more than 400 local business, government, investor and education leaders. In addition, the event featured remarks from Congressman Edward Markey, and unveiled the following 2009 award recipients:
Breakout Company of the Year
EnerNOC, a provider of clean and intelligent energy solutions, was named Breakout Company of the Year for achieving an inflection point in revenue growth and establishing itself as both an industry leader and a market-maker. (2008 winner: A123Systems)
Emerging Company of the Year
QD Vision, Inc., a developer of nanotechnology-based products for lighting and displays, was honored as the Emerging Company of the Year for exiting its development phase with tremendous momentum, poised to build on that momentum with rapid sales growth. (2008 winner: Aspen Aerogels)
Employer of the Year
American Superconductor, a global energy technology company that provides solutions spanning the electric power infrastructure, was recognized as Employer of The Year for growing its workforce by a substantial margin, and providing good, high-paying jobs to its community. (2008 winner: GT Solar)
Corporate Citizen of the Year
Millipore, a provider of technologies, tools and services for bioscience research and biopharmaceutical manufacturing, accepted the award for Corporate Citizen of the Year for its adoption of clean energy technology and energy efficiency measures in order to reduce its carbon footprint. Clean Energy Hall of Fame Inductee
Steve Cowell, CEO of Conservation Services Group was inducted to the Clean Energy Hall of Fame for his dedication to clean energy, and truly setting an example for others to follow. (2008 winner: Mark Farber)
Council Leadership Awards
Kevin Doyle from GreenEconomy and Wanda Reindorf from Conservation Services Group each received awards for their outstanding leadership in the support of Council activities. Wanda and Kevin are the Co-Chairs of The Council’s Workforce Development Group.
