Omnicare Appoints Dr. James M. Pusey President and CEO of Omnicare Clinical Research
COVINGTON, Ky.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Omnicare, Inc. (NYSE:OCR) today announced that Dr. James M. Pusey has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Omnicare Clinical Research effective immediately. In his new position, Dr. Pusey will be responsible for Omnicare’s contract research organization (CRO) operations worldwide. Dr. Pusey succeeds Dr. Dale B. Evans, who has resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Dr. Pusey, age 50, has more than 25 years of experience in medicine, international clinical trial management, CRO services and global pharmaceutical sales, marketing and operations roles. Prior to joining Omnicare, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Global Clinical Development at MDS Pharma Services, a business unit of MDS, Inc. (TSX:MDS; NYSE:MDZ), from 2007-2009. From 2005-2006, Dr. Pusey served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Orthologic, Inc. Before that, he served as Executive Vice President of Neurology at Serono, Inc. Prior to joining Serono, Dr. Pusey served in a variety of roles at AstraZeneca International, including Vice President and Therapeutic Area Leader, CNS, Pain and Infection for AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals USA and Vice President, Marketing for AstraZeneca USA. Prior to that, Dr. Pusey served in various executive roles at SmithKline Beecham (now GlaxoSmithKline), both in New Zealand and in the U.S., including Vice President and General Manager, Clinical Trials Center; General Manager, Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Healthcare; General Manager, Pharmaceuticals and International Marketing Manager.
Prior to his business career, Dr. Pusey practiced medicine in the United Kingdom, where he worked on the staff of four London hospitals. He also served as an International Medical Advisor in Southeast Asia, where he managed anti-viral drug development trials for The Wellcome Foundation, Ltd.
Dr. Pusey graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from The Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine at London University. He also holds an M.B.A. from the London Business School.
