Sales of Award-Winning USB Device EcoStrip Helps International NGO Wherever the Need Battle Sanitation Crisis
EcoStrip Announces Partnership with Wherever The Need to Not Only Help Save the Earth, but to Also Help Save Lives
MARINA DEL RAY, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)– Green electronics firm EcoStrip today announced a partnership with international sanitation non-profit Wherever the Need to donate $2 for every EcoStrip 2.0 USB controlled power strip sold online at www.ecostrip.com. Beginning Nov. 19th and continuing through Thanksgiving 2009 the donations will go toward building eco-sanitation toilets in impoverished communities throughout the world where they are needed most.
The USB 2.0 EcoStrip is a power strip that eliminates the flow of energy to computer peripherals when the computer is turned off, eliminating active and passive electricity flows to printers, scanners, modems, speakers, and stand-by lights. The device saves consumers money on their monthly electric bills, conserves energy and reduces its users’ carbon footprints. The product won Carlyle Associates’ 2007 Green Product “Gold Standard” Award.
“As a company, EcoStrip has always been dedicated to social causes,” said Kameron Nesen, Publicist for EcoStrip. “We’re thrilled that this partnership gives us a chance to support Wherever the Need’s crucial mission. Consumers who buy our USB power strip not only help save money and reduce their use of electricity, but also enable us to give back some of our profit to a great cause.”
“Now, more than ever, the sanitation crisis needs urgent international support,” said Beverly Visty-Doman, Executive Director of Wherever the Need USA. “With 2.6 billion people worldwide lacking access to proper sanitation, and thousands dying each day, most of them children, EcoStrip’s support is a huge asset to us. We’re very excited to work with them.”
The announcement coincides with World Toilet Day, an international effort dedicating November 19th to raising money and awareness to the sanitation crisis. Wherever the Need expects the EcoStrip partnership to play a large role in the charity’s November fundraising efforts.
