The Military Man Joins Chem-Dry’s Cleaning Gang.
With 27 years of Royal Air Force experience behind him, local entrepreneur Mark Dawson recently embarked on a new chapter of his career as he has just moved into franchising with Chem-Dry. During his military career Mark had been posted to various military sites both in the UK & Germany, however he was based at RAF Leuchars since 1993 serving on both 43(f) & 111(f) Squadrons. The time spent at Leuchars allowed Mark to build a good local knowledge of the Tayside region.
Although a background as an Aircraft Engineer dealing with Aircraft & Armament systems gave Mark a solid technical grounding. Many military people, who decide upon a future career in franchising, tend to possess few business skills. Mark realised this factor could prevent his franchise from developing, so he decided to spent 5 months of his Air force resettlement, learning the basic skills of franchising and gain a comprehensive understanding of skills needed to run his own franchise business. Time spent with Edinburgh based Chem-Dry franchisee David Hunt of Castle & Kingdom Chem-Dry will provide vital experience to draw upon in the future.
Franchises from a military background tend to possess skills such as discipline, attention to detail & process management skills. Due to the controlled & structured environments they have experienced, franchises are able to find solutions to problems that might be encountered throughout the working day.
